Jump on the ferry & enjoy a great day on
Rottnest Island, exploring its many unique
features including its famous Quokka
population. Quokkas are native wallabies
found only on Rottnest Island and many
are quite tame and friendly.
Rottnest is a 1,900 ha limestone island
about 11 km long by 4.5 km wide
The island has five salt lakes of over
200 ha.The 40 km coastline is dotted
with sandy bays providing superb
swimming, surfing and water sports.
Snorkeling is equal that of Queensland's
Great Barrier Reef
Rottnest is completely free of cars.
Bicycles, which can be hired both on
the mainland and on the island, are the
favourite form of transport
Things to see include the World War II
gun emplacements on Oliver Hill.
The colonial buildings including Rottnest
lodge, the former government house
and Kingston Barracks, now used as an
education centre.The settlement also
includes a small museum.
